Just two days ago, I wrote about pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, saying that God had a hand in Nigeria's affairs, little did I know that a pastor, Mark Christmas, of one of RCCG's branches in oil rich Bayelsa state, had been kidnapped.
Mr Christmas's abductors are now demanding a 30 million Naira (approximately $150000) ransom, and another 200000 Naira to cover the costs of phone calls! The pastor, along with two of his congregants were abducted on October 18. The kidnappers, who allegedly set him up using his kinsmen, are only just making their demands known. It was while all of this was going on that Mr Adeboye (who most probably knew about this incident) said, just two days ago, that God had a hand in Nigeria's affairs.
I had also written that in the face of the kidnappings for ransom and general state of insecurity engendered by the Boko Haram insurgency, Mr Adeboye still had the temerity to say that Nigeria was peaceful. The peace he was talking about is now at his front door.
