Boko Haram Massacres Another Village

Last Thursday, boko haram insugents entered a village and opened fire on unsuspecting villagers. The ensuing pandemonium resulted in the frightened villagers running straight into a river which had overflowed its banks, this being the peak of the rainy season, even in the arid Yobe state where this massacre occurred. Many of them, of course, drowned.

My concern with this kind of stories will always be the religious angle. This vile terrorist group has been on this mission of carnage since 2009 and were at their worst during the Jonathan years. The Chibok girls saga is still fresh in our minds, and every pragmatist has given up all hope of their ever being found. There are even rumours that the female suicide bombers being used in recent bombers were sourced from these abducted young schoolgirls.
Nigeria now has a muslim president who recently approved two Islamic books as part of the curriculum in all Federal Government Colleges. He, like millions of other 'conservative' muslims all over the world, denounce boko haram and their brother terrorist organizations as either not being muslims, or misinterpreting the koran. But the truth is that these terrorists are following the koran, and they are not different than any other so called conservative muslim. These appellations of 'extremist' or 'islamist' are just the 'conservative' muslims and their fellow apologists giving a dog a bad name to hang it. Boko haram terrorists (as well as all other koran thumping terrorist groups) are muslims. The sooner we realize it, the better.
